If an application offers text communications, read the notice that identifies the sender, the messages covered and any consent choices. Check whether messages are optional and what conditions apply.

Costs, frequency and stopping messages

Look for any description of message frequency, carrier charges, help instructions and how to stop messages. Follow the instructions in the actual sender notice or message rather than assuming a keyword or telephone number applies.
